Academic Advising

Concordia College offers several resources to help students achieve their goal of graduation.

PROGRAM PLANNING GUIDE
The Registrar provides every student with a Program Planning Guide via DegreeWorks. The Guide helps students keep track of the courses necessary to complete an academic program and obtain a degree. Every program has unique requirements, and it is important that students review these requirements on DegreeWorks and in the College Catalog.

ADVISING
Every full-time student is assigned an advisor who will assist with program choices and registering for courses. Shortly after making their enrollment deposit, first year students are assigned a first year advisor who specializes in the transition from high school to college. Transfer students are assigned an academic advisor based on their intended major at the time of enrollment. In their second semester, students transition to  a faculty advisor within their program of study. Students should review their degree plan on DegreeWorks prior to meeting with their advisor.

REGISTERING
After meeting with their advisor and agreeing upon a recommended course schedule, students may register themselves via their Banner self-service account

MONITORING OF ACADEMIC PROGRESS
All advisors participate in monitoring the academic progress of their advisees. At mid-semester, Academic Progress Notices inform students where they stand in a course, especially when performance is less than satisfactory. Students and advisors receive a copy of this notice, and strategies for improvement are developed accordingly.
