Dr. E. Yong Lee, Professor of Business and Economics, has been named recipient of the 2020 Nehemiah Award for Service at Concordia College New York.
Concordia’s Nehemiah Award was endowed by Dr. Robert and Mrs. Lois Meier “to provide an opportunity for faculty to recognize their peers for noteworthy service to the college, the church, the community or profession…the recipient is a New Testament Nehemiah who has devoted time and talents in service to God and people in building for the future.”
A member of Concordia’s faculty for over 25 years, Dr. Lee has also served his church as a lay elder for 30 years, making regular summer missionary trips to China and Mexico. He is currently working on forming a missionary outreach program in Guatemala. He earned his BA from Seoul National University and his MA and PhD in economics from Rutgers University.
Presenting him with the award, 2019 Nehemiah recipient Dr. Joshua Hollmann cited his colleague’s “genuine and unparalleled devotion to the mission and success of Concordia College and our students.”
Dean of Concordia’s School of Business Dr. Philip Rothman said, “Dr. Lee continuously strives to enhance our business programs and learning experiences with innovative solutions, tools and resources that make our graduates market-ready. As an advisor and mentor, he has helped countless students make a successful transition to Concordia, and further transition to earning advanced degrees and securing jobs at leading companies. That combined with his ongoing commitment to his church and valuable missionary work make him an ideal recipient of the Nehemiah Award.”
Dr. Lee said: “God’s blessings have enabled me to serve Concordia for the past 25 years, with dedicated faculty and staff who constantly lead me to work harder. My experience at Concordia has been invaluable to me, and I look forward to continuing to accomplish God’s mission here.”
