The CACC Publishes Clipper Stories of Resilience

At a time when we can all use some inspiration, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference has posted several stories of resilience from Concordia’s student-athletes.

Golfer Carlos Riveras writes of growing up amid the acute humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. “My dad is definitely the reason for everything I have achieved, because he guided me in both my personal life and my golf game, and always believed in me. From this adversity, I learned that everything is possible if you are dedicated and persistent enough.”

Soccer player Dianna Moreno has dealt with the untimely death of her beloved brother Javier. “I will never take the time I have with my family for granted ever again. Every moment is precious. I also learned that it is okay to lean on family and friends during hard times. That is what they are there for.”

A torn ACL caused Demetrios Argyros to miss his sophomore year soccer season. “The primary lesson I learned through my struggles was to never give up and to fight for what you want.”

A native of Puerto Rico, Camila Rabassa went eight days without hearing from her family after Hurricane Maria. This Christmas break, she was on the island when the earthquakes hit. “From overcoming adversity I learned that giving up is not an option. I learned that if we stay strong and united we are going to overcome anything that gets in our way.”
