Concordia's School of Health Sciences and Nursing Donates Medical Supplies to Wartburg

Bags of personal protective equipment – including facemasks, gloves and hand sanitizer – made their way to Wartburg from Concordia’s School of Health Sciences and Nursing today. Concordia College and Wartburg have been neighbors, friends and partners for a long time, and an inquiry from Wartburg president and CEO Dr. David Gentner to President Nunes brought quick action from Concordia.

Wartburg offers integrated, comprehensive senior care services on its 34-acre campus in Mount Vernon, and has taken extraordinary measures to keep its community safe during this time, following strict infection control and prevention guidelines. Dr. Karen Bourgeois, Dean of Concordia’s School of Health Sciences and Nursing said: “Everyone caring for vulnerable populations needs these supplies now. Concordia’s shift to remote learning means our nursing labs are closed, and we are so happy these items are being put to good use.”

Thomas Lamb, Wartburg’s Senior Director of Planning and Real Estate, made the quick trip to campus to pick up the supplies from Dr. Bourgeois. “We really, really appreciate what you’ve given us,” said Lamb as he rushed to get the items back to Wartburg.
