Men's Head Tennis Coach Neil Tarangioli Achieves Milestone 500th Win

Concordia College Men’s Tennis Coach, Neil Tarangioli, has achieved a major milestone, his 500th win when his team bested Valdosta State in Pensacola, Florida.

Coach Tarangioli joined the Concordia Athletics staff in 1978. Under Tarangioli, the Clipper Men’s Tennis team has won 19 of 21 Championships as members of the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) and Eastern Collegiate Conferences (ECC). The Clippers have won four straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships since joining the conference in 2009.

“This is a great milestone for me,” said Neil Tarangioli, “But more importantly it is a great milestone for the Concordia tennis program. I could not have accomplished this with out the help of those around me. To paraphrase the great Gale Sayers, 'Players are first, assistant coaches and athletic staff are second and I am third.'”

Coach Tarangioli has been a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association for more than 20 years and was named Member of the Year in 1996. He has won “Coach of the Year” at the conference level nearly twenty times.  He has also been honored as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) East Region Coach of the Year five times.

In addition to Concordia’s success on the tennis court, Tarangioli’s Concordia teams have earned two consecutive ITA All-Academic Team awards and five Men’s Tennis players have received individual recognition.
