In-Room WiFi To Be Installed in Residence Halls

Concordia’s residential students will return for the Spring 2021 semester to find in-room WiFi in the residence halls.

Each room will receive a wireless access point with private networking. In addition to providing much better coverage, in-room Wi-Fi will allow students to access many technologies that were previously unavailable, including Apple TV, Chromecast, screen sharing, wireless printing, and communication between devices. Gamers will be able to plug in to the wired ports directly.

The upgrade will benefit non-resident students as well. With a decrease in the volume of users, speed on the College network is expected to get a boost.

“We know that wireless connectivity in our residence halls has become more and more challenging,” said Chief Information Officer Gary Gollenberg. “I’m very happy to report that our long-time partner Privatel Incorporated has helped us provide this enhanced service at no incremental cost to the College. It’s a very exciting upgrade for our students.”
