Dr. Barry McNamara Cited in The New York Times

The November 11 edition of The New York Times' special series Coronavirus Schools Briefing cited an opinion piece from Dr. Barry McNamara, Professor of Education and Associate Dean of Concordia's School of Education, that appeared in Newsday on November 4

In his Newsday piece, Dr. McNamara advised parents and educators to heighten awareness around bullying as classrooms move online.

From reporter Amelia Nierenberg's New York Times article: "Bullies pick on vulnerable students, McNamara wrote, and more students are suffering from anxiety and related behaviors during the pandemic. Some students have gained weight during the lockdown; others might be embarrassed that their classmates can see the inside of their homes. And as kids socialize more online, cyberbullying has increased."

Dr. McNamara is the author of several books that illuminate the topic of bullying and give families and teachers best practices for parenting and educating children with special needs.
