Concordia College Named Top Performer for Social Mobility by U.S. News Best Colleges Rankings

Concordia College has again been named a Top Performer for Social Mobility by U.S. News & World Report

According to the U.S. News Best Colleges website, “Economically disadvantaged students are less likely than others to finish college, even when controlling for other characteristics. But some colleges are more successful than others at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants. The vast majority of these federal grants are awarded to students whose adjusted gross family incomes are under $50,000.”

Concordia College was among the schools that performed best on U.S. News’ social mobility ranking factors.

Making a college education accessible to the widest variety of students is a closely held value of Concordia College, where students who are the first in their families to attend college make up over a third of the student body. A holistic array of support services surrounds students from their first moment on campus. The personal attention afforded by Concordia’s manageable size ensures that every student receives the right mix of services and supports for their individual needs.

President John A. Nunes said, “I am proud that once again, Concordia College has been recognized for providing meaningful educational access – not just in opening our doors to more students, but in getting them across the finish line to graduation. Preparing students for lives of passion, purpose and service is Concordia’s mission: our small Christian college helps students become the people they are meant to be, and the world is better for it.”
