One-day Master Class for Adults: Egg Tempera
Egg Tempera, an ancient luminous medium, emphasizes pure color and fine drawing. Made with simple egg yolk as binder and pure mineral pigments as color, and without the use of solvents, Tempera has many of the glazing qualities of oil paint, yet is water-based, fast drying and optically brilliant. This class is a mini-introduction into the egg tempera technique, including creating paint from dry pigments and egg yolk; multiple techniques of applying egg tempera; as well as a wealth of historical information surrounding the tradition.
